TLA Friends Community Events and Shares

  1. Kelsey Sproul has been named the 2026 Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC) Teacher of the Year: Huge congrats, Kelsey  Your TLA Friends are so proud of you, and so happy and thankful for you and all you do for Children and Rural Communities! What an incredible program you have created in the Sedan school system - certain to be scaled out from your program across Rural Kansas and beyond ??
     
  2. Charro Jerry Diaz & Family + Sin Fronteras Concert | Volland’s Inaugural Music Series | July 12, 2025: Friendly reminder that Patty and Jerry Reece have invited all TLA Friends to attend this equestrian show and concert, including food and cold brews trucks! This will be a truly magical experience – thank you so much Jerry and Patty 
     
  3. Savanna Chestnut and the Field Hands | Long Farm Concert | July 26, 2025: Keith and Linda Long have kindly invited all TLA Friends to join them for a concert at their farm, including food and cold brew trucks! Certain to be a grand time, and featuring Americus, KS, native, Savanna Chestnut – many thanks Linda and Keith

  1. KDA 2025 Summer Animal Health Workshops: July15 & August 13, 2025 – special focus on current critical topics related to the Kansas Livestock Industry for cattle in both pasture and yard.
     
  2. K-State AI in Ag Conference: July 22, 2025 – special focus on AI-based Livestock Handling & Management and Pasture Management options begins at 4PM.
     
  3. KDA 2025 Kansas Ag Summit: August 14, 2025

TLA Updates

  2. TLA Rancher-specific Events:

TLA Young & Beginning Rancher Business Series| TLA & Kansas Ag Mediation Services (KAMS)

KAMS has been helping Kansas Ranchers and Farmers with their Ag Business needs for 35+ years – they have a robust set of programs that support Ag Producers create and/or maintain a robust Ag Business that is secure and ready to hand off to the next generation.

This TLA Event Series will consist of multiple in-person meetings throughout the Flint Hills with each meeting focusing on 1-2 of the following KAMS Program services:

  • Kansas Ag Business Financial Analysis and Long-Range Planning:
     
    An Analyst with the Kansas Farm Analyst Program works with a Producer to obtain a realistic overview of the state of the Producer’s Ag Operation, then helps the Producer make realistic business decisions based uses the FinPack Ag Financial Analysis System to obtain a realistic overview of the state of their Ag Operation. Once the business analysis is complete, the Analyst helps the Producer create a long-range business plan based on a realistic cash-flow plan. The Analyst will also help the Producer work with any debtors/creditors if requested.
     
  • Kansas Ag Business Legal Services:

    KAMS has partnered with Kansas Legal Services, Inc. (KLS) since 1989 through an agreement to provide direct legal representation to Kansas Ranchers and Farmers on a reduced-fee basis. Agricultural Law Attorneys help their client understand the laws and regulations governing the issue involved in the client’s Ag mediation event, as well as the client’s rights and options.

    Additionally, KAMS has an agreement with KLS to represent Ranchers and Farmers to help their client prepare for the mediation to more effectively resolve ag-specific mediation needs or disputes. These Ag Law Attorneys help their client resolve issues with their debtors or creditors, landlord/tenant, as well as disputes involving adverse decisions of various USDA agencies (e.g. FSA, NRCS, Rural Housing, RMA). The agricultural law attorneys with KLS understand the farm situation and are experienced at helping producers.
     
  • Ranch Succession Planning and AgKansitions Services:

    The KAMS Ranch Succession Planning Program and the AgKansitions Program work in tandem to help Ranchers create a Ranch Success Plan, Transition from the owner generation to the next generation, and provide legal support and mediation services for any type of Ag ownership transition.

    KAMS helps Ranchers create an Ag Land and/or Ag Business Succession Plan including navigating and resolving all components of a Succession Plan, and AgKansitions helps plan and implement the Ag Transition process including navigating and resolving any roadblocks to transfer. These services provide support and resources for needed Ag financial analyses, remediation and planning; legal needs and requirements; and mediation services on all fronts of the Succession Plan creation and Transition implementation processes.
     
  • The KAMS Program offers Mediation Services Kansas Ag Producers through all types of issues – these services can be used for any of the above Programs, or for other Ag Mediation needs such as Family, Neighbor, or Service-provider disputes. KAMS’s Mediation Services will be included in each of the above events.

    TLA’s new logo is included at the top of this document – it is an update on our classic logo.

    This update allows us to use our TLA logo on any digital platform or document typeyou will see this logo as a circle, square or rectangle, and we will use it as our profile picture where required/allowed to use a photo.

    If you would like a higher resolution version of this new TLA logo, or the .svg file, please contact us – we’ll get it right to you!

    If you were at the June 26th Ranch Tour, please note we will not use the new “digital logo” we shared at this event – we decided to stick with only using the updated classic logo for the time being.
     
  2. For those of you that attended the TLA 2025 Tallgrass Prairie Preserve Ranch Tour:
